 FAQs

  • If your child is exhibiting persistent signs of anxiety, behavioural issues, social withdrawal, or difficulties at school, it may be time to consult a psychologist. Common indicators include unexplained sadness, changes in sleep or eating habits, and frequent outbursts of anger or fear.

  • Costs can vary depending on whether you are accessing services privately, through NDIS funding, or via Medicare (MHCP). Each option offers different levels of coverage and out-of-pocket expenses. Please contact us for a detailed breakdown of costs or view our Fee Page.

  • The first session is typically an assessment where the psychologist will ask about you or your child's history, behaviours, and any concerns you may have. It’s also an opportunity for you or your child to get comfortable with the therapist.

  • Parents typically do not attend therapy sessions, as it's important for the child to have a safe and private space to express their emotions, thoughts, and concerns openly. This confidentiality helps the child feel secure and comfortable during their sessions.

  • It’s helpful to explain that the psychologist is someone who helps children with their thoughts and feelings. You can tell your child that the therapist is there to listen to them, help them feel better, and work on any challenges they’re facing.

  • A child psychologist focuses on therapy and behavioural interventions, while a psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can prescribe medication. Both professionals often work together to provide comprehensive care.

  • Therapy can help individuals manage emotions, improve their behaviour, and develop coping strategies. It can also support academic success in children, improve family dynamics, and promote overall mental well-being.

  • You can prepare your child by talking to them about what to expect in a positive way. Let them know that the psychologist is a friendly person who is there to help them with any big feelings or problems they might have.

  • We treat a wide range of conditions including anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioural issues, trauma, learning difficulties, and more. Each treatment plan is customised to meet the unique needs of the individual.

  • Therapy services can be accessed privately, through NDIS funding, or via Medicare with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). Referrals from your GP are required for Medicare rebates.

  • While a referral is not always necessary to make an initial appointment, it can be beneficial if you plan to access rebates through Medicare (using a Mental Health Care Plan) or if you are seeking services funded by the NDIS. If you're unsure whether a referral is required, we recommend contacting us directly so we can guide you based on your specific situation.

  • Yes, we offer telehealth services for clients who prefer or require remote sessions. Telehealth allows your child to receive therapy from the comfort of your home, ensuring consistent support regardless of your location. This can be particularly beneficial during times of illness, travel, or if you live in a remote area. Please contact us to find out more about how telehealth works and to see if it’s a suitable option for your family.
